Don’t you just love the way Jake is looking at his bride? I can almost hear his heart thumping out of his chest as he chokes back his thankful tears. Thankful Erica is his forever.

The Kiss:

Our friend Tucker has an amazing voice. Seriously, this guy can sing! Lucky for Jake and Erica he agreed to serenade their first dance.

Speaking of dances, look at Erica with her father-in-law…if that’s not the cutest, I’m not sure what is.

Of course I was super honored they asked me to document their special day. They did things the simple route by forgoing all the craziness that weddings can sometimes be and instead chose to unite forever in the coziness of just each other’s company. Pure perfection if you ask my opinion.

The ceremony was performed at the Stein Erickson Lodge, located in Park City, Utah, by the lovely Karen Nielsen. She did a beautiful job and her words were so perfect she had the two of them in tears. I must admit the ceremony was so touching I got a little teary eyed myself. I’d recommend her to anyone looking for an officiant; you can see her website here.

I didn’t mention before that all these beautiful wedding arrangements were made by Brad. On their cake he had them inscribe Lu, Mu, Nu, Wu Forever which is their special code they text to each other throughout the day. It means Love You, Miss You, Need You, Want You.

Other details:

Taunya is a lover of skulls. Look at her cute tatoo and Brad’s cuff links and watch. I think I’m in love.

Rawr. Look at how amazing Tauyna looks.

I actually was super nervous for them because the days leading up to their wedding, Utah was having unusually cold, wet, consistent-I-think-we-were-confused-with-Seattle weather. Fortunately the weather broke and the day of her wedding we were blessed with blue skies with just a few patches of clouds. And hey, that actually ended up making the skies more interesting anyway.

But you remember Larissa though, right? I mean, how could you forget this beauty?! We were able to do her bridals but I was even more excited when she wanted an urban location — how stinkin’ fun don’t you think?

Sardines was the game they were playing and if you’ve never played, it’s like reverse hide-‘n-seek: one person hides and everyone looks for that one person. If you find the person hiding, you hide with them until everyone in the group is hiding.

As fate would work its magic, Larissa and Jamison spent the next 30-minutes huddled together in the bushes getting to know one another in the still of the dark night. And now, time has passed allowing them to get to know one another even better. Love has grown, and one day they will get to tell their grandkids how they met in the bushes. Literally.

Photographing Larissa and Jamison’s engagements was such fun. Given how they met (and their subsequent involvement in a dodge ball league together) its obvious part of the foundation of their relationship is built on playing games and having fun together. What a fabulous foundation to have!

Needless to say, I’m super stoked and honored to be shooting their wedding at the Logan Temple this June.

You may not be able to tell from the photos, but the morning of our session a huge spring storm had arrived in Utah. In fact, we were photographing through snow flurries and rain in the beginning of our session! Jamison and Larissa were great troopers though, but when we came across a darling little tea shop, we ducked inside to get warmed up. A little raspberry herbal tea was just the ticket too.

I just love this last series. Don’t they look like they’re getting ready, and then jumping into life together? Perfection.

Eventually came talk of marriage, and the promise that it would happen “someday” ended up happening sooner than they thought. You see, Trichelle’s father Larry, as a bishop, can now marry couples in Utah; and what a perfect opportunity for his first marriage to be his daughter’s.

The ceremony couldn’t have been more beautiful. After Trichelle lead her dad down the aisle (check out the photos below for the evidence, Haha!) Larry conducted the ceremony. He spoke about the wonderful qualities his daughter and soon-to-be son-in-law have: Trichelle, a great mother and respectful daughter, a wonderful friend who never speaks ill of anyone, always seeing the positive qualities in others. And Joe, the unselfish, hard worker, who’s so considerate of his little family, showing his love by putting their own needs before his own.

Seeing them interact, I can agree they bring out the best in each other.

The day was really fun for me personally because I happen to be good friends with Trichelle’s family. She and I actually grew up together with one of my closest (and uber talented) photographer friends, Melissa Davis, so I was lucky enough to photograph the wedding with her by her side. Here’s a little er, a bit of what I saw:

One thing I didn’t mention about Larry before is he’s a total jokester! I was photographing them arriving at the ceremony and he swerved the car at me in an attempt to scare me. I must have jumped because just look at the two of them laughing!

See! I told you she drug her dad down the aisle! C’mon Dad, hurry it up, would ya?!

Trichelle’s daughter, the flower girl, only threw like 2 petals in the aisle and saved the rest for when Trichelle actually arrived at the ‘alter’! SO cute.

and their son who made his way down the aisle via wagon:

Oh wow, just look at the way Joe is smiling at his new bride. It’s easy to see how much he loves her.
