She’s happily married to a lucky guy and they have a darling family together. You can easily see how happy they are together and because she’s happy – I’m happy.

Finding and reading Suzanne’s blog Twenty Four at Heart is kinda like that. She’s unapologetically honest in her posts and isn’t afraid to share embarrassing stories. Some of her stories aren’t so embarrassing and rather will shock you with the craziness ridiculousness that California’s Orange County can be. And some of her stories will leave your heart aching for her pain. At any rate, after a short time of reading you’ll find yourself thinking she could be a friend. One that wouldn’t be afraid to tell you there was a piece of spinach in your teeth. One that would tell you like it is. One you could be your unabashed self with, and one that on occasion would say something to make you blush.

And if you think Denita is beautiful, it could be because she’s Larissa’s cousin (you remember Larissa right? from this post, this one, and this one) but it also could be because she’s simply gorgeous. Yes, I think it’s that – she’s definitely gorgeous.

I was super stoked Caleb and Denita chose me to photograph and document their engagements. And when engagements involve the whole family, they’re all the more fun. While I was spending time with them I could easily see the love they have for each other is perfect. They seemed so at home with each other. So genuine and comfortable. I think you’ll agree:

I love the way Caleb is looking at Denita in this one.

After we were done playing in the park, we went to Farr’s Icecream in Ogden. It’s the best!

We proceeded to hop from one side of an irrigation ditch to the other. I jumped and made it over. Mandy jumped and made it over. Ryan jumped. But didn’t make it over. He jumped almost smack in the middle of the ditch! And of course he had his new school clothes on which, as you can imagine, didn’t make his mom too pleased.

Fast forward a few *ahem* years and Ryan is grown with a beautiful wife and baby. I’m happy to say he still has his silly laugh though.

I was delighted when Ryan’s mom Kathy called me for a family session. Coming from a big family myself I can understand the challenges involved in scheduling a session and for Kathy this is especially difficult because some of her kids live out of state or have crazy work schedules. She admitted it had been years since her last family photo but the stars seemed to be aligning in her favor this time around.

Enter Mother Nature. She seemed determined to derail our plans with the storm she sent the day of our session. The winds were SO strong the sky was completely covered in sand.

Rescheduling wasn’t an option because the only day everyone could get together was the day we were scheduled – if we didn’t have the session, it would possibly be years before the family was all back together again.

Normally I don’t shoot indoors but given the circumstances, I wasn’t about to let Kathy miss her opportunity to capture a family photo. Isn’t her family so darling?!

After the family session I was able to take her adorable grandkids to the front porch where we were sheltered by the wind somewhat; you may remember this beauty I mentioned the other day, here she is again with her cousins this time. Did I mention how adorable these kids are?
