Well internet, I’m thrilled to say that my friend’s ears will be getting a rest because I’ve just launched Utah Boudoir Photography – a division of Photography By Shay!!! I’m super excited. If you can’t tell, haha.

I will still be photographing families, weddings, and portraits of course, and those will continue to be featured right here. But all the boudoir sessions will be featured on my boudoir blogsite. I’m quite pleased with the division and now you won’t have to worry if your little ones are peering over your shoulder when you come to this blog, you can simply jump over to the boudoir blogsite when you feel comfortable to appreciate the gorgeous women celebrating their beauty.

They came to the session together for support, admitting they were a touch apprehensive about their comfort levels but as they left, they beamed at me exclaiming how surprisingly comfortable they were and how much fun they had. I simply smiled right back basking in the joy I get from empowering women in celebrating their beauty.

This woman and her husband wanted some tasteful photos to capture not only her beauty, but also to express the love they have for each other. He wanted to remember her exactly as she is today – as his gloriously gorgeous wife. And although she is a very conservative person, she reciprocates his love so much she agreed to break out of her shell and embrace her beauty as well.

She confessed leading up to the session she was a little nervous, but once we started and got things underway, she admitted she had so much fun and was at total ease the entire time. She went on to tell me that she was actually quite shocked with herself because she was so comfortable and was really excited and looking forward to seeing the images.

I was granted permission to post a few anonymous images from her session. I totally understand and am obviously happy to oblige her request by creatively cropping the images, but I must admit there’s a small part of me that’s a smidgen disappointed I can’t share with you her eyes because the playfulness of them really added to how fun everything turned out.

What is an intimate session exactly? Well, boudoir (pronounced boo-dwahr) is the official name of intimate sessions and is a French word meaning woman’s dressing room. Boudoir photography is all about celebrating your beauty as a woman by creating playful, yet sexy images.

So why should you have schedule your session?

The real question is why not?! Seriously though, aside from the lightening speed at which life passes by, think about capturing and preserving your true beauty as you are today. Of course, giving boudoir pictures to your husband or someone special makes a wonderful and usually unexpected gift *wink wink*

Don’t worry about any imperfections you may have because honestly, you are beautiful exactly the way you are. You are loved exactly the way you are. My job as a photographer is to emphasize your positive attributes and deemphasize those areas you might be self-conscious about, but trust me, you’re beautiful just the way you are so don’t hesitate to capture and celebrate your true beauty.
